SO enjoyed my interview with Theology of the Body speaker, writer, media producer and artist Jacob Popcak, who is doing phenomenal work through the apostolate he founded, Passion Fruit Ministry. I met Jacob at the Theology of the Body Institute, and simply had to introduce him to you! I’m so grateful that he offered his time to the Faith and Good Counsel listeners.
As you will find in listening to his interview, as well as through the social media links below, Jacob has much to offer us in wisdom and knowledge that are truly beyond his years. There was simply not enough time available to highlight his many gifts and talents, as well as the ways he offers those through the lens of Theology of the Body in service to Church. What hope we have in this generation!
Our conversation focused upon the work he offers through Passion Fruit Ministry, which consists of speaking, writing, art, and filmmaking/media production focused upon the fruits of Theology of the Body. Jacob desires for all to know that the roots of our identity are as “children of God, brides of Christ, and temples of the Holy Spirit”, coming as “a direct result of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ”. This is a young man who inspires my heart, for we share this same desire for every soul! Jacob writes on his blog “It is only by remembering our identity as fruits of His Passion – Passion Fruits, if you will – that we can show God’s love to the world”. I think this speaks so much to who Jacob is and what he desires to offer every person.
Here’s just a portion of Jacob’s bio:
“….Jacob has worked as an international speaker and writer on the Theology of the Body and related themes, always working to combine humor, passion, enthusiasm, and pop culture with solid theology to convey the truth and beauty of the Catholic faith to every audience. He has studied at the Theology of the Body Institute and is currently completing his graduate education at Franciscan University of Steubenville. While at Franciscan, [he] founded the Corpus Christi Theology of the Body campus organization. In the summer of 2014, he spoke alongside…Christopher West at the International Theology of the Body Congress in Philadelphia, PA….”
You will find that Jacob speaks articulately, intelligently, in an approachable and charitable manner, and with great courage as he reviews pop culture through the filter of Theology of the Body. In our time together, we touched upon some of the aspects of his talks offered through Passion Fruit Ministry, including:
- “Becoming What You Are“ : We focused upon challenges & solutions to living out authentic masculinity
- “Created for Perfect Love“ : What does it really mean to say “God loves me”?
- “Beauty, Desire & Holy Fire“: How God conveys himself through Beauty
Speaking of beauty….Jacob is quite the artist as you can see in this beautiful drawing that he “doodled” (my words:) while listening to the beauty of Saint John Paul II’s teaching on the Song of Songs at the Theology of the Body Institute.
As you’ve probably gathered…I’m quite a fan and supporter of the good work that Jacob is doing. I encourage all to connect with him and check out all of the “Passion Fruit” that he offers. Consider inviting Jacob to speak at your next event!
