My guest June 11, 2013 was Maura Byrne, Catholic speaker, blogger, and founder of Made in His Image, who talked with me about her journey to healing from abuse and a severe eating disorder. Her story is unfortunately all too similar to so many young women who have been wounded physically and emotionally through abuse, and whose identity has been damaged. The trauma that Maura endured ultimately led her to a deep struggle with Anorexia Nervosa. With the help of a Catholic therapist, Maura has received help and healing, and has come to embrace her beauty and true dignity as a Daughter of the Most High God. Through her witness, she is serving as a vessel of beauty through which God is reaching out to his beloved daughters in love, mercy, and healing by way of the work she is engaged in with Made In His Image which will be the first Catholic treatment facility of its kind for those who are suffering from abuse and eating disorders. Her witness is powerful! I do hope that you will listen in to the archived episode as Maura shares her story of suffering and resurrection with us.
“I am alive today because of God, and until the day I die I will never cease to praise His Name. He is the Almighty Healer, and His grace is an ocean of Mercy”. Maura Byrne June 8, 2011
