Captivating… that word barely sums up my interview with Sue Ellen Browder, former long-time journalist with Cosmopolitan Magazine who – as an act of penance and of a contribution to cultural restoration – shares with us through eyewitness testimony the story of how she participated in the intentional manipulation of women, men, and our culture in her new book, Subverted: How I Helped the Sexual Revolution Hijack the Women’s Movement.
Over and over again, generation after generation, agendas are so often pushed by a small contingent of people who use money, power, sex, political maneuverings and the secular media to manipulate and distort authentic truth – which is then fire-hosed to ordinary people like you and I who consume the agenda-laden fabrications through television shows, radio programs, books, movies, music, and magazines. And, we just don’t see it. We become subverted.
We buy the lies hook, line, and sinker – we begin to believe that THIS is the truth. And when we act according to what we believe we’ve discovered, some of us eventually wake up to the reality that things aren’t working out the way we thought they would. Others keep following the lies, hoping that one day, it will all work out. It’s so sad when an entire lifetime is spent looking for that which will never be attainable.
The carnage from the sexual revolution in our culture speaks. The distortion of the feminine identity with denial of the gift of our life-giving fertility – plainly visible in the design and function our bodies – has ruptured our culture…one television show, radio commentary, one women’s magazine article at a time. Our reductionistic ideas about who we are as women are infected with a fabricated, fantasy, “ideal” woman that we are supposed to try to be – an ideal standard that we will never be “good enough”- or even possible – to reach.
We were promised we’d be freed by the sexual revolution, and have world peace as a result of a sexually free, my-identity-is-my-career, et al, lifestyle. In my line of work, all I see are broken hearts and bodies – and a lack of understanding of the roots from which this brokenness is buried. And a lack of awareness that we’ve been lied to and manipulated on so many levels that we’ve discussed today, as well as more to come in future interviews and posts.
Freedom is NEVER possible rooted in lies and manipulation. As a feminine survivor of this rather traumatic period in history, I’m eternally grateful for the courage of gifted writer and journalist Sue Ellen Browder who is coming forth now to share the gripping story of her participation in one such agenda that has so harmed our culture.
Women (and indirectly men as well) have been set up. Insidiously. Subversively. And intentionally – by a handful of people who drove an agenda, and some of whom made millions (and billions) doing it. What damage has been done to our true beauty as women!
If you’ve ever wondered, “How ever in the world did this happen?”, Sue Ellen’s story will amaze you.
